Reverse of a wishlist?

Is there anywhere to post the reverse of a wishlist? Like the old Demonoid forums that had a section where people posted lists of files they had available, for people to request torrents be made from. I've got heaps of content I'm sure others would enjoy but they might not think to request it because it's not on their radar, but I can't see a good place to post the list of what I could create a torrent of.

I'm kind of wondering if the wishlist section of the forum would work for this, even though it's sort of the opposite thing… Postman has a wishlist section too, but nothing that's "here's what I've got - tell me what you want a torrent of". I'm paralyzed by indecision, lol - too many things to create a torrent of, and the result is I don't create any at all.

Hi Liorar!

I could now refer to MuWire, because MuWire can solve these and all other questions about file sharing, because MuWire is more than just file sharing, but that could be taken as advertising for MuWire, so I will certainly not refer to MuWire, especially since MuWire is ignored by the top bittorrent file sharers, not to say bittorrent file sharers boycott MuWire and the average people go where it is obvious to them that there is something to get there. So not a word about MuWire at this point.

There is a wish list for torrents here in the forum. The nice thing about language is that it is as precise as the wording allows. And at this point I see no reason why a list of possible torrents cannot be offered on a “Torrents Wishlist”, which proactively supports the inclined participants in their search. But you should also make your offer recognizable as such, perhaps in the form of “I offer whatever I can take responsibility for” or even more clearly “I offer: my private xyz archive”. I'm sure you won't have any problems with the right wording in your native language.

(Oh, I just remembered, with MuWire various extensive archives are distributed, tar zip etc., and the contents of the archives were attached in catalog form and these catalogs also serve as mwcomment and so the contents can also be found via the search. Unbelievable, isn't it?)

One solution is to just create torrents of everything. Some people even have automation to do this.

Also if you have any clearnet torrents, you preferrably should properly cross-seed them (with preserving the infohash).

You seem to really like MuWire. But it's not nearly as popular as torrents. At least consider that a torrent client is built into the default distribution of I2P.

This is almost irrelevant from a sociological point of view. I2P is also not “built-in” and has to be installed first, yet it is found autonomously and set up manually. Have you ever asked yourself what the differences are between MuWire and PaT, not from a technical but from a human perspective?

look for holes in content and post it a little at a time, you'll get a feel for what kind of content will probably do "well" here so you can prioritize that stuff.

maybe you could post a poll and go with what people chose

personally my paranoia comes out here, i don't want to make the contents of my unshared collection known publicly or be too vocal about intention to share specific content before i've done so. This feels dangerous to me, it's another data point for profiling. i read the wishlist to get a sense what people are after but it's why i don't always chime in "hey i have this" and then post it, i just post it. profiling and all of that. or i'll just post completely random stuff that nobody asked for lol which is what you should do.

paranoia is also why i don't use MuWire, full respect to its creator(s)? and people that've kept it going, i just have a much deeper understanding of bit-torrent, the clients, how it works, so i have more trust for it.

Remember, you're on i2p, where identity is hidden. So, if you have such fear, you can create multiple different identities and partition your collection in some way and post the parts from each different identity. Remember to use a separate HTTP tunnel and a separate bittorrent client for each identity, so they are not linked together.

For some "super lightweight" separation you may also consider Postman hidden-owner torrents.

this is excellent advice, i do have other idents now with separate clients for each for different kinds of content, this one only shares shows though. hidden torrents are very good option for not dealing with the lower rate limits from lower star accounts. very important to keep everything separate for them like you said, different dests, http tunnels, grammar/lang style, fingerprint etc.

i2p does a good job of helping you stay hidden, worth mentioning due to a recent event to any new users here please for the love of dog make sure social media accounts are not outing your i2p ident. or even better, don't use them.

Wait, what do you mean? What rate limits? Like for creating torrents or something?
I've yet to discover the practical advantages of having more stars on the postman tracker account. (not to mention, even how to get them)

yeah, or in general. iirc, 1-2 star accounts have about same rate limit as not being logged in, 4-5 have very high limits. not sure what the actual limit is but i haven't hit it and i think you'd need to be trying to do it. lower star accounts i get rate limited occasionally.

stars are tied to number of downloads as far as i know, don't know how many to get from one to the next. but i think the raised limit is a useful perk that makes uploading things less frustrating. uploading needs a lot of loading to the next page so like 3 pageloads for one upload plus any attachments

You could make a poll with categories of what you have.

Example:
- Comedy movies
- Crime movies
- Adventure games
- Shooter games
- German movies
- Anime
- ...
Then you create & seed torrents in the most popular category/categories.
