About trollboxes, fairy tales and other lies

Post by lgillis »

Hello and congratulations on the newly established forum!

I have one or two questions, so that no misunderstandings arise from the beginning.

This forum has two forums below the category "trash can", one called "Trollbox" and the other called "Fairy tales and other lies". I suspect the forum staff is required to move posts from users who have specifically registered there, after appropriate review, if necessary. Regardless of whether the staff is trained to recognize "fairy tales and other lies" accurately, I find the idea of ridiculing participants repulsive.

In his letter of welcome, "root" states that the forum team would remove illegal content, etc. in a way that is not comprehensible to participants (http://discuss.i2p/viewtopic.php?t=2). In my opinion, this is more in line with the traditional understanding of a hierarchy, as we know it from some socialist and totalitarian systems: people must never be sure of themselves, they have to bow to the leaders, after all they know better and only want their best. According to philosopher Rutger Bregman, man is basically good, it is not "the survival of the fittest" that has led to success, but "the survival of the friendliest". Why do the operators believe they have to build up this pressure on a community that has yet to form?

Then the question arises for one or the other, how you intend to deal with the contradiction regarding the aforementioned and the torrent forums. After all, the content transported by torrents is almost exclusively not legal, at least as far as Western societies are concerned. Are there several kinds of illegal in this forum and how can the participant recognize in advance when illegal starts?

And finally, I would like to know what characterizes "fairy tales and other lies". Does this mean that the positions of Western governments regarding the Covid policy should not be doubted or even contradicted? It would be helpful for the participants to know where the limits of what can be said are.

I look forward to your response and hope not to be put in any of the above boxes with this post.
